Final thoughts before I leave...

Above: Kelley Mitchell and John Stevens Jr., over looking Strasburg, Va.

The hours grow shorter and the seconds feel like they no longer exist. We are all in crunch time, gathering our last minute supplies and saying our last goodbyes to family and friends. I totally understand we won't be gone forever, but a month is a good chunk of time. A lot, as you are probably aware, can happen in a month. Think of 2001 when in October rolled around we didn't know we were going to be attacked the next month and our whole demeanor changed after Sept. 11, nationally. There's no telling what the month of October has in store for us on the Ecoventure or those staying at home. Thats somewhat the beauty of it, don't you think? If you knew what was around the next corner your emotional responses wouldn't be "real", now would they?

So when the wind starts to howl and the leaves begin to fall on Oct. 3, 2009, think about us and check in on us now and again. It's reassuring that we aren't alone in everything we do and we have people we care about following our progress.
