Another Year, Another Adventure

"Be the change you want to see in the world."
-Mohandas Ghandi
A year ago I was writing about my adventures in the wilderness of the Shenandoah Valley. Which those memories are engrained within my psyche, but this year I've got a different type of adventure.

I signed up for a business class at Shenandoah University this past fall which will involve me hopping on a plane on Dec. 26, 2010 to another country. For the two weeks our class will be visiting businesses, talking to CEOs, learning and experiencing the country. Which country? That would be Panama!

The country that gained it's independence from Columbia with the assistance of the United States on Nov. 3, 1903. One hundred and seven years later and Panama is still thriving by itself.

I'm not alone in this little journey. Five other students plus our professor will be headed to paradise the day after Christmas. Emily Laubscher, Faith Alexander, Greta Andersson, Amanda Mittelkamp, Mark Sipe and I will be lead by R.T. Good, associate professor of business management.

I've never been outside of the United States before and I'm feeling a little nervous, anxious and not to mention super excited. I mean we've got 21 days until we'll be experiencing Panama. Thats less than 3 weeks! Oh that reminds me, I need to get some more Christmas shopping done.

I did find out that we will be visiting the biggest news station in Panama as well as the biggest newspaper, among other businesses. We haven't received the official schedule of events yet, though I'm sure it will be in by the end of this week.
