A different perspective..

I'm an avid believer that good communication and understanding can surpass any obstacle as long as all parties are active participants. I mean, hello, I am a communications major. If I didn't believe that, I think it would be time to find a new major. (to say the least) But, what about those situations in which you feel like you are 100 percent right and the other person is wrong, and the argument is at a stand still? Or the situations in which you feel like everything isn't quite right. Well, I don't know if it's the way I was raised or if it's just the way I am; but I always seem to see things from both sides of the spectrum. (Yes, sometimes I don't like the other view, but I see both sides) For example, take this photo for instance, you see cows here. (yes, they are cows, not dogs or ants) These cows are standing in the pasture of my family farm, however this photo wasn't taken on the farm. This photo was taken from the mountain view that overlooks our farm. Tricky, I know! What is intriguing to me is that I see these cows once in awhile and they are just cows to me, ones I must water and fed apples to once in awhile. But, here in this photo these cows aren't my cows anymore, you can't see their numbers or notice which ones are which from this distance. These cows are apart of a bigger picture, one of which I will leave you to figure out on your own. :-)

My point is maybe we have to go somewhere else, a little further away from our (thoughts, problems,...you fill in the blank) and from a different angle to get a clearer picture. Just a thought.

Just look around, you'd be surprised!

The alarm goes off and the routine starts. We roll out of bed to attempt to; brush teeth, fiddle with hair, change clothes, eat breakfast, gather what we need, find the keys, make sure we have the cellphone, and wake up before we leave. Everyday is different, but most of them are very similar. We may not be consistent in our routines, but we attempt to do certain things before we leave the house. Throughout this routine and the drive to our destination, some of us tend to get in a "zone". We get so focused on getting to where we are going, and worrying about what we need to get done that we don't pay attention or take the time to look around in our environment. It's not that we intend not be observant, it just tends to happen. It's the common theme in most of our lives that we don't have enough time or that becoming observant will cause us to be late. Being late is like hell, you get all hot and bothered and everyone else is angry for causing more work or delaying work that has to be finished. We don't like hell therefore some of us try not to be late. What is a few seconds while your in your routine going to cost you? Life is too short not to take that second to look around in your environment and to be aware of your surroundings. I say, soak it all in just like the rays of the sun. Take some breaths for yourself, there is no real need to be tense today!

Once in awhile...

The sweetness of the golden sun brings a taste of clarity and sensation to my newly formed feeling of satisfaction that I have not felt before. It's not the heat the drives this feeling, it's the light that helps my eyes to see the beauty in front of me. Never shall I forget the sight. A sight so glorious that it can not be forgotten in the abyss of time. What baffles my mind is that this sight may go unseen by many and that is a darn right shame and should be called a sin.

Where time stands still..

I admit I am in love with nature. I have admired it's beauty since the first time I laid my eyes upon it. Honestly, I could spend the rest of my life sitting on a rock watching the water flow by in the creek nearby or watch a river become apart of the ocean. But, there is something about the mountains that I can not get over. Their shape and their demeanor confuse yet intrigue my inner calmness and connects me to a deeper core. I become apart of them. There ancient ways of patience allows time to stop and all my worries to plunder into nonexistence. It's like an addiction, and I can't help but be the addict. My ever concerning fear is that we will age so rapidly that we will not realize the beauty around us. The calamity of stress, work, money, possessions, fame will overwhelm us to a point where we will shut out the rest of the world because we don't have time to deal with it. We have plenty of time, some have longer than others, but we are each given the same amount in a day. What will you do with yours?
